Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin with us. It was the perfect place to relax and reconnect with friends and family. Your standard for excellence was evident in every detail of the property. We loved the place so much we cancelled our day trip plans that was going to take us away from the cabin. We saw a variety of wildlife including a parade of deer and a bald eagle...so cool! Although we are tempted to keep the place to ourselves for our own little secret getaway, we will certainly spread the word to our friends under the condition, they have to bring us with them. :) We will be calling you; we already have a date in mind to return in October. We came here to celebrate a birthday. We could not have chosen a better place. The cabin is beautiful! Fully stocked kitchen, linens and bathrooms were great, but what made it amazing was the high quality "stock" (AWESOME!!!) and the extras. We spent most of the time here in the cabin as it was so peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed games and laughs well into the evening. We are planning to return to this wonderful place as often as possible. Thank you for taking the time to add the extra touches. It made our stay here very special.

Thanks for everything! The amazing gift basket, shoveling to the fire pit, and allowing us to stay in the beautiful cabin! Unfortunately we didn't kayak because it was a bit colder than planned but that meant more time to relax. We drove to Baldwin and Ludington one day, Big Rapids the next day and breakfast in White Cloud the last day and then headed home. I hope to go back in the future! You guys really are the best!!

This is, without a doubt, the most beautiful cabin we have ever stayed in. There is not a single detail that has been missed by Rod and Beth in making it a perfect stay. We all fell in love with it. The canoe and trees (lighted inside the cabin) are beautiful!! The theme rooms are fun! Inviting! Comfy! The complete decorating and colors looks like something you would see in a cabin magazine. Well done!

What I/(we) did: River rafting, bonfires, walked the sand dunes (Silver Lake), fished, played games, went to Lake Michigan, go-carting, bumper cars, dune riding and went to the dairy farms.

What we did: Horseback riding at Rainbow Ranch, Mac Woods Dune Rides, jet ski, kayaking, river float, petting farm & more! Lots of fishing here at the cabin, that was our favorite thing!

We stayed at the cabin the week of July 11th and loved it! We went here instead of our usual Myrtle Beach and this was truly the best vacation we have ever had. The cabin is Gorgeous! Clean, plenty of room, and All the luxuries of home. We loved fishing in the river, having fires, taking bike rides, day trips to the dunes and horseback riding and jet skiing and kayaking and the Petting Farm, and coming back to the peaceful cabin and laying in the hammock, cookouts and more fishing. THANK YOU for allowing us to stay at your cabin, WE WILL BE BACK! Just not sure if I can wait until next summer...

What we (I) did: Fished at various places, tubed down the river from Baldwin Rd. to Rainbow Reel, Silver Lake Sand Dunes - rented sand boards & took a boat ride around the lake from people we met at the dunes, played disc golf, yard games, lots of bonfires and cooking/grilling out, lots of coffee & relaxing, board games & Lake Michigan.
Favorite moments/special highlights (fun): Stumbled upon an Indian POW WOW in White Cloud; tube popping on river float; family time @ Rainbow Reel; S'MORE HANGOVER from eating 5 the night before; catching and eating crawfish.
We had the best time. Thank you for being so accomodating and hospitable! The gift basket was so thoughtful and we were amazed how fully stocked and ready the cabin was. It has everything. This is such a beautiful cabin and the setting is so relaxing and scenic. We can't wait to come back - would love to come every season. :)

We all met in November 2008 on a trip to Hawaii. We bacame great friends and got together every month or two after that. In August 2011, we- including Marge's late husband, Keith, went to Mackinac Island, the locks, and rode the train on the Canadian side. The following January, we lot our friend, Keith. In February of this year Gary& Arlene spent one week with us in Naples and we visited Key West. Alvin & Angie were also in Florida and came to Naples for a couple of days!
It was time for a group venture where we could just hang out and I came across Rainbow Reel. Rod had originally told me it was taken but later called to say we could have it. (cancellation) What a belssing! It is a beautiful place for rest & relaxation and have all enjoyed our time here. Time has gone so quickly. Thank you Rod & Beth for sharing Rainbow Reel - and also for the basket! We've had a wonderful time with lots of great memories!

Rainbow Reel is an absolutely beautiful cabin. Myself, along with my two brothers and our wife's stayed here for the weekend to attend a family wedding in the area. From the time we first spoke with Rod, the unexpected welcome basket, the exceptional detail they put into everything inside and out, it was a wonderful experience. We are already trying to put together a return visit when we can spend more time at the cabin. Anyone who has a chance to stay here should do so.

"Wonderful weekend away with great friends!"
My wife and I and another couple rented the cabin for a weekend away to relax. We did just that and only left the cabin for a quick trip to the store. It was so quiet and relaxing that no one wanted to leave all weekend. Rod and Beth were super nice and you could tell that their heart and soul went into building the cabin. They go above and beyond to make the cabin comfortable and enjoyable. They even have supplies that you wouldn't expect so all you really need to bring is some food for the grill and beverages. We have already planned a return trip for next year. Highly recommended! You won't be disappointed with your visit to this cabin! A++++

It is very clear that this cabin was built with an abundance of T.L.C. :) We're so thankful that the Pentoney family decided to share it with others. They were amazing hosts - we lost power for a short time one evening and Rod was very responsive when we let him know and kept us up to date with what the estimated time was for when it would come back on. It felt as though our hosts were extended family members instead of complete strangers. This is definately not the last time we'll be staying here!

Josh and I had a blast! We are so grateful for this trip and the blessings that came with it. Both of us lost a significant relative over the summer (I lost my dad, Josh lost his grandfather) so we needed time away. We needed time to enjoy each other + God's beautiful creation. Owners, thank you for renting your cabin out to us. 12 days of peace and relaxation, even with 3 kids. Celebrated a 6th birthday and Christmas. The cabin is an amazing place. Owners fully decorated for Christmas. Our girls, ages 6, 4 and 4 months really took to the place. We made stained glass sun catchers, practiced with their bow and arrow and crossbow (nerf) (outside), made a gingerbread house, learned to sew, played board games and a few other arts and crafts. The girls collected firewood (busy work) just because they loved being outdoors with the frontage of the river. This place really gives you that slow down busy lives need. The cabin is well stocked with movies, games, shampoo/conditioner, laundry detergent, appliances, cookware and kitchen basics like coffee and cooking oil (prepared nearly every meal there) and very clean. My husband loved the Dish Network and recliners.
Apparently there are 39 college bowl games a year and he was set to watch them all. :) Invited grandparents for coffee just to see the place. We didn't see any nearby attractions because the cabin was just that nice and the property is just that peaceful. Definitely felt welcomed with a gift basket with gifts for each of our kids, candy and a Christmas tree sheet cookie. When owners realized we had young kids, they stocked the cabin with age appropriate toys, especially the "sit and spin" for our 4 month old. What a lifesaver! This cabin is move in ready. Could have stayed in my pajamas the whole time, so relaxing. Don't miss out on this gorgeous property from very gracious and thoughtful owners.

We had a group of friends get together for a 42nd birthday dinner and the Rainbow Reel was an excellent place to do that. :) We sat in front of the pellet stove, talked, laughed, and even ventured out to the bonfire as it was such a beautiful winter weekend. The cabin is in impeccable shape...everything is perfectly ready and makes it seem like "HOME". :)

Favorite Moments- It was all great...The river floating was probably the best family time though. The boys enjoyed walking down river (fishing) from M-20 to the cabin, it's a 2 1/2 hour walk from that bridge.

Beautiful Cabin. Owners are very helpful and wonderful people. Great location, peaceful and quiet. The kids loved being outdoors and indoors. We live close to the city, so it was a great opportunity for them to enjoy nature. Lots of stuff to do and close by.

We had a great stay at your cabin! Even my 17 year old son was impressed. Everything we did and saw was fun and relaxing. The cabin and grounds was stunning. Thank you so much for allowing pets. Our dog had a great vacation as well. I think he even lost a few pounds (he needed that). We hope to visit again someday. Very relaxing vacation.

This was our home for our first trip to Michigan.It is the perfect modern cabin for a riverfront stay. We loved the grassy yard that grows in the midst of the fern laden woods. We walked the dog down the driveway and around the yard for daily exercise and he loved the area too.Only had time to float the river twice but enjoyed it very much. It can easily be floated by anyone, including youngsters or those completely unfamiliar with kayaks or rafting.You needn't float the river to enjoy it however, because you can walk 25 yards from the back door and be standing knee deep in the cool, clear spring water. The cabin itself is very comfortable with excellent furnishings that make you feel right at home. We enjoyed the decorative touches with the knick knacks on the shelves and the wall hangings,(My favorite was the canoe in the rafters) What a great trademark for a riverfront cabin. i got used to looking out the windows first thing in the morning and in the early evening to get a look at the deer and turkeys we saw almost daily. All in all, we had a great stay and would certainly do it again if we found ourselves in the area in the future.

Pentoney's, you are such wonderful owners, you are so friendly and extremely helpful! Digital Detox Box is a wonderful idea! Gift basket was so sweet! One week isn't enough time to enjoy this cabin. People I met: No One!!! Whie here at the cabin, never saw another person - It was awesome!

What I (we) did: Sunday- enjoyed the cabin-weather was windy and the kids loved playing/dodging the "acorn rain". Monday- bike riding on the Hart Montague trail w/stop at Country Dairy. Tuesday-went to Grand Rapids to John Ball Zoo. Wednesday- Silver Lake Dunes area, Mac Wood's ride (Tom, our Mac Wood's driver...funny guy & great tour) & beach day! Thrusday- raft float down the Muskegon River. Friday- Hoffmaster State Park beach day & dinner/walk around Grand Haven.
Favorite moments/Highlights: S'mores around the campfire at night, the "acron rain" on windy Sunday & learning the meaning of the double honks on Mac Wood's Dune Rides :)

We have been coming to this area for the past five years and have always stayed in a nearby cabin. This year, however, the owner of that cabin decided to sell and we had to find a new place. We were all a little sad because we felt nostalgic towards the other cabin. As soon as we walked in to Rainbow Reel, all sadness disappeared!! This cabin is first class, beautiful, relaxing, and cozy! The view is gorgeous! Rod and Beth run things first class and it's so very organized. We greatly enjoyed our stay and have already booked our dates for next year!!

Great Property, Great Owners
We were looking for a place to stay while we went trail riding near Baldwin and stumbled across Rainbow Reel. This place is even more beautiful than the pictures. Rod and Beth have not missed one detail. That was evident from the moment we arrived. On the table was a personal note along with a gift basket filled with goodies. Rod called shortly after we arrived to see if we had any questions or needed anything. We really were just looking for a place to sleep while we were not riding, but found a basket of games and many DVDs to enjoy while we stayed. This is a great place stay any time of the year. There is something for everyone.

Chris V. Beyond Expectations- 2017
We were very pleased with our stay. There were 7 of us, all adults, my husband and our grown children and their spouses. Plenty of places to gather together and also to relax alone and read a great book. The cabin has everything you need, beds and furniture are clean and comfortable. Washer and dryer, dishwasher, stove and ref. are all clean and work properly. It is obvious that the owners care about their property and their guest. We have been renting vacation getaways for nearly 20 years and we have been happy at many locations but this is by far the best in every area. This cabin goes above and beyond in so many ways. Of course nothing is perfect so I will share the one thing I wish was different. The cabin has a small electric hot water heater. I was surprised because to me everything else goes beyond the needs of the normal vacationer but for a cabin that sleeps from 9 - 12 people I would expect a larger and maybe even gas hot water heater. We had a schedule for showers that worked most days except the one where we spent the entire day on the water and when we returned all 4 girls wanted the shower and it took a couple of hours to make that happen. We will definitely stay again and most certainly recommend this cabin to all those reading this and all our friends who also rent vacation homes. In my experience you will have a hard time finding a cabin this nice or owners more caring

Rod and Beth are wonderful to deal with! They have literally covered every single little detail. They made everything about our weekend stay easy and enjoyable. Their home is beautiful, cozy, and relaxing. We didn't want to leave! It is clear that a lot of love went into building and decorating their home and we are so glad that we got the opportunity to enjoy it for the weekend. We have rented cabins in Tennessee numerous times and this was by far our best rental experience. Thanks again Rod and Beth! We hope to be back real soon!

Wonderful experience from start to finish. Easy to book, had all information we needed. The home is amazing - wonderfully decorated, attention to detail, everything you need. This was our 2nd stay. Can’t wait to come back for a third.
Beautiful Setting on the river!​
This was our first time at Rainbow Reel! It was so much fun! There were 5 of us including 1 child! The property is so nice and the cabin was so luxurious! We really enjoyed rafting on the river. It was such a nice touch to have the large butterfly on a tree by the river, so we knew where to get off the river! We really enjoyed the campfire each night! We loved our vacation so much, that we have already rented the cabin again.

This cabin is great! This was our second time renting Rainbow Reel. It is such a relaxing, beautiful area. The pictures are beautiful, but still do not do it justice. We have rented many houses, cabins, and condos through the years and this one by far is the cleanest and well maintained. Rod and Beth are so easy to communicate with and extremely nice people. They went above and beyond making sure we received something very valuable that we accidentally left behind. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us!

This was our 2nd visit to the Rainbow Reel property and we LOVED it like the last time. The location is great. The outdoor setting is amazing.
Sitting around the fire while over looking the river below, playing in the river, and card games at the outdoor table are a few of the things we enjoy. The inside is decorated beautifully and is very clean (& well maintained). This is definitely a place we love and will plan to return to again.
The owners have been wonderful with all communication.
During both visits we took time out to visit Lewis Farm and Petting Zoo. Our family had fun and enjoyed some delicious fresh desserts there. Other than Lewis Farms we just love to stay at the cabin.
